Switching portals

A switching rod is first inserted into the instrument portal like any operating instrument and positioned under vision. The arthroscope is removed from the arthroscopic portal, detached from the sheath and the sheath is inserted into the joint over the switching rod. Then the switching rod is removed and arthroscope is reattached into the sheath.
