Preserving the peroneal nerve in posterolateral portal

Arthroscopic inspection of the posterolateral recess is done by either a high anteromedial portal or a high anterolateral portal. The extent of posterolateral capsule is determined by palpation and the needle is inserted proximal to the biceps femoris muscle to preserve the peroneal nerve.
